The Value of Volunteer Time Increased in 2024

Volunteers help their neighbors, serve their communities, and offer their expertise. In doing so, they contribute to our quality of life. Each year, Independent Sector and the Do Good Institute at the University of Maryland calculate the value of volunteer time in all 50 states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico. In April, they announced that the estimate for the value of a volunteer hour was $34.79 in 2024, a 3.9 percent increase from 2023. The LAWINRC is looking for a Strategic Content & Communications Specialist to help carry out our mission to strengthen and serve Iowa’s nonprofit sector. Duties include managing the Center’s website, designing digital materials and delivering the Center’s communication strategy across several platforms. The role plays a key part in maintaining and building the Center’s public presence through written, visual, and multimedia content, including effective social media engagement.
