AI Governance for Nonprofits

Description

Intended Audience: Nonprofit staff who are interested in learning more about building guidelines, best practices and context for AI (artificial intelligence) in their workplaces. Interested board members are also encouraged to attend.

Session Facilitator: Luke Ifland, principal, Syntax Solutions.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing the way nonprofits work, creating new opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen decision-making and better serve communities. But successful AI adoption requires more than simply choosing the right tools, it requires thoughtful governance.

Drawing on more than 12 years of nonprofit executive leadership and extensive technology experience, Luke will explore why nonprofit organizations should have an AI governance framework. Participants will learn how to develop an AI policy that balances innovation with responsible use, protects sensitive information and establishes clear expectations for staff.

Key Takeaways:

  • Understand AI and where it can add value for your organization.
  • Learn why AI governance matters and how it protects your organization, mission and stakeholders.
  • Explore the essential components of an effective AI policy, including approved use cases, data privacy, human oversight and accountability.
  • Leave with practical guidance for creating, implementing and regularly reviewing an AI policy for your organization.
