Some philanthropy watchers believe the long-awaited Great Wealth Transfer is upon us — or at least approaching. They point to double-digit increases in planned gifts in three of the last four years and the aging Baby Boomer population. Most Boomers are now age 65 or older.  

Even if wealthy members of this generation do not remember charities in their wills, they are likely to pass their money on to children and grandchildren. This so-called “next gen” are future major donors, and many nonprofits are successfully building ties with them today and adapting strategies to accommodate their giving habits and preferences.
