Grant Information
The Miccio Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation created for benevolent and educational purposes. It supports projects that address the well-being of animals in the State of Iowa, with primary focus on companion animals. Funds can be used for, but are not limited to, such projects as humane education, start-up programs, medical care and equipment, spay/neuter programs, caging or adoption support. These projects should have an immediate, direct and measurable effect on improving animal welfare in the target community. Funding cycles occur twice annually, in May and November.

Organizations may apply for funds from the Miccio Foundation through a three-tier grant program. Applicants may apply for only one Miccio Foundation standard or mini grant per funding cycle. In addition to applying for a standard or mini grant, applicants may apply for one Jean M. Walker grant per cycle. Applicants are not limited to Johnson County.
- Standard grants are awarded to organizations licensed by the State of Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) as pounds or shelters.
- Organizations with 501c3 status are eligible for the Miccio Foundation Mini Grant.
- The Jean M. Walker grant is designed to raise public awareness about the humane treatment of animals.
