Event Category

Admission
$24 for members; $50 for non-members

Learn how to create a successful internship program in this lunch-and-learn program. Internships are a critical part of many nonprofit organizations. Internships provide an excellent opportunity to prepare students for the workforce; provide real-life, practical training; and help young workers better understand the nonprofit sector. For nonprofits, it’s an opportunity to help train the emerging workforce, nurture an interest in the nonprofit sector, and develop potential new employees. This session will outline how to structure an opportunity that allows for a meaningful experience for the student and sets up your organization to benefit the most. Internship program pitfalls will be discussed as well as tips and tricks for recruitment.

Presenter:
Dr. Julianne Gassman, Director of Community Engagement at the University of Northern Iowa. Julianne has worked with, designed, and hosted interns for nearly 30 years.
