Research grants for authors will be considered by the State Historical Society of Iowa. The deadline for applications is April 15.
The State Historical Society of Iowa announces a grant program for 2021/2022. The Historical Society will award up to fifteen research stipends of $1,000 each to support original research and interpretive writing related to the history of Iowa or Iowa and the Midwest. Preference will be given to applicants proposing to pursue previously neglected topics or new approaches to or interpretations of previously treated topics. The Historical Society invites applicants from a variety of backgrounds, including academic and public historians, graduate students, and independent researchers and writers. Applications will be judged on the basis of their potential for producing publishable work. Grant recipients will be expected to produce a manuscript targeted for The Annals of Iowa, the State Historical Society of Iowa's scholarly journal.
See the event website for details.
Proposals for the 2021/2022 awards must be received electronically or postmarked by April 15, 2021.
