Preserve Iowa Summit: The Trail Ahead (Virtual)

Admission
$25 for preservation partners and the general public

The annual Preserve Iowa Summit is the state’s premier conference for professionals and volunteers involved in historic preservation. Through expert presentations, workshops and tours, participants will learn new ways to preserve Iowa’s past for the future.

The 2021 summit’s theme, “The Trail Ahead,” looks two ways at once: back to Council Bluffs’ colorful history as a trailhead for explorers and settlers, and forward to a bright future where Iowa communities use their history to create a unique sense of place and shared identity.

The Iowa State Historic Preservation Office is part of the State Historical Society of Iowa, the historical division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs.

The three-day program starts Thursday with some inspiration – an awards ceremony to honor SHPO’s Preservation Projects of Merit and Preservation Iowa’s “Preservation At Its Best” – and wraps up Saturday with a round of how-to sessions specially designed for Iowans who work or volunteer at local historical societies and history museums across the state.
