Iowa Legal Aid is hosting a free legal compliance training for nonprofit boards of directors! The training will be held virtually via Zoom on Saturday, February 13th, from 9 a.m. to noon (with plenty of breaks!).
Bill Boyd, Past President of the Iowa State Bar Association, will once again share his expertise in nonprofit governance. Additionally, we are pleased to announce that Chantelle Smith from the Office of the Attorney General will join us. Chantelle will discuss the top issues her office sees regarding nonprofit boards of directors and will share tips to avoid regulatory issues. A panel discussion with nonprofit professionals will offer an opportunity to get practical advice about running a nonprofit, too.
While this presentation is not aimed at attorneys, we anticipate receiving CLE accreditation for this event. Additionally, Bill Boyd will be offering an attorneys-only session so lawyers can better understand how to best manage ethical duties while serving on a board of directors.
