Board Orientation and Leadership Development (BOLD)
Event Category

Applications are open for the third series of Board Orientation & Leadership Development (BOLD). Led by United Way of East Central Iowa’s (UWECI) Young Leaders Society, BOLD is geared toward emerging leaders interested in volunteering for a board or committee but who are unsure of the skills needed or responsibilities included in doing so. The deadline for submitting applications is January 5, 2021.

The series features six 90-minute workshops with presentations from community leaders, group conversations, training opportunities, and more. This year, these workshops will run from February to June.

One of the goals behind the BOLD program is to increase the breadth and diversity of volunteer leadership within our communities. In keeping with this principal, UWECI and the Cedar Rapids NAACP have partnered to provide scholarships for up to four BOLD applicants that are part of diverse communities, such as BIPOC, LGBTQIA, people with disabilities, and other groups who are made to feel like they do not belong. Information about applying for the scholarship can be found within the BOLD application.

Details and links to the application and personal reference forms are here.
