This free session brings together five legal professionals who will present issues related with attorney service as nonprofit board members. Panelists will review the fiduciary duties, professional rules, and ethical issues arising from board service. Panelists will review common scenarios, as well as potential pathways to navigate issues of competence, confidentiality, conflict of interest, and more. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session. 

Area of Law: Nonprofit and Tax-Exempt Organizations & Legal Ethics 

This session qualifies for 1 Continuing Legal Education credit and 1 hour of Ethics.  

Format: The session will be in-person, as well as streamed live online via a Zoom webinar.  Participants will be able to engage with the panel in person, as well as by video, audio, and live chat features. The webinar will not be recorded. 

The panelists will be located at the Boyd Law Building on the campus of the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Participants may join in person and online.

Parking

If you plan to join us in person, you may park in Lot 48 or in Hospital Ramp 4. For Lot 48, complete the registration form then follow the link to the parking request form to provide information about the vehicle you will be parking in Lot 48 (Myrtle Avenue lot). This will ensure that you do not receive a ticket. View a map of Lot 48 here. We need this information by 5 pm on Wednesday. When parking in Lot 48, please DO NOT park in the green Park Mobile Zone spots. You may park in any of the spots that do not have the green Park Mobile sign. These are paid parking spots and are not part of Lot 48. Alternatively, you may park in Hospital Ramp 4. Both Ramp 4 and Lot 48 are within walking distance of Boyd Law Building.
