To ring out the old year and ring in the new, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites Iowans to get outside and enjoy Iowa's state parks. Visitors can check into more than 50 participating state parks and forests on the State Park Passport from December 31, 2021 through January 2, 2022. Explore as many parks as you wish. Every check-in qualifies participants for a drawing for a two-night stay at a two-bedroom cabin at Lake Darling State Park near Brighton. Hikes may be done independently or visitors can sign up for guided hikes. A pdf list of guided hikes is available on the First Day Hikes website.
